Ballard Locks

After a long day of walking all over Seattle, we got in the car and Randi took us to the Ballard Locks. Scott was so excited about watching the boats enter the lock and be raised up and then let go through to Washington Lake. What a boy! It was cool. We also got to see the salmon ladders. It is spawning season for a certain type of salmon so they are all headed back to the rivers where they were born to spawn and then die. We watched them swim and jump and make their way through the ladder from ocean water to fresh water. We also saw a seal out in the water enjoying a really good salmon dinner.

Surrounding the locks is a beautiful garden with so many different flowers. Brie and I had fun playing in the garden. I was actually just trying to keep her happy until we got her back to the car to get changed into pajamas and fall asleep in the car seat as we drove. We took a drive out to see the temple in Bellevue and then home to Randi's house for a wild game of Phase 10 with Rex and Eunice (Randi's 80 year old parents). Posted by Picasa

I love the picture where Brie is sticking her tongue out at Randi. She looks so impish and mischievious, it is a sign of things to come!!!
