Kate - Four Months

Little Miss Kate is four months old. I really can't believe how fast she is growing. I am now fully aware of what everyone meant when they always told me how fast kids grow up. I've experienced it and now I know. It makes me really enjoy every second with this girl. I eat up every chance I get to hold her, snuggle her, make her smile, hear her laugh. I adore this baby.
Kate at Four Months:
Weight: 12 lbs. 6 oz. (25th percentile, our biggest baby)
Length: 24 inches (40th percentile)
Head: 40 cm. (40th percentile)

Kate wearing the sweater and bonnet that Grandma Rama gave her that had been saved for 40 years. Absolutely beautiful!
Kate is still sleeping in our room. Yes, she is definitely more spoiled than the others, but there is also no where good to put her. So she sleeps in a pack n' play at the end of our bed and then joins me all snuggled up together asleep from about 4am on. I admit . . . I love this. I love holding her while we sleep and I absolutely love waking up to her looking at me and smiling. Kills me.
The girl is frustrating. She still completely and totally refuses a bottle or a chupa. This means I can not leave her for long. There is no quick way to soothe her except to nurse her or be rocked (by me). This explains why she is our heftiest baby.

She has, however, just started taking to her fingers. We have really tried not to let the other kids suck their thumb, but I'm actually putting her thumb in her mouth trying to teach her to take it. Sad.
She always has her tongue out. She sticks out her tongue at everyone. I couldn't even get a good professional picture of her in her blessing dress because of that tongue. Remember this from the day she was born?

She started really laughing a good, hard belly laugh. It is a crack up to all of us. She usually gets really slap happy right before getting so tired she loses it. The kids are in heaven doing anything they can come up with to get her laughing so hard. It's hilarious.
She started rolling over last week. Now she is always wiggling, squirming and rolling. She's like a greased pig. I can barely keep a handle on her when I'm holding her. I tried to take a picture of her in her church dress . . .
I got a whole lot of this.

Kate hates, and I mean hates, taking a bath. We recorded her first bath and she screamed bloody murder through the whole thing. And she still does, each and every time she has to touch that awful water. It's like torture, but it's over quickly.
We are all so completely in love with this little, baby girl.

The Big Performance - Cinderella

All through the year I take the girls to their tap and ballet class weekly. All year they get ready for and talk about and anticipate their "big performance". Well, the big performance was on June 21 at Kingsbury Hall. They performed in Cinderella.

These shows really are big. They are amazing. The sets, backdrops, costumes and older dancers all make it very professional and are done very well. The classes of little girlies dancing around make it so fun. This year Brielle was a page. She was quite nervous about having to wear pants, but when she saw her costume she was THRILLED. Ohhhhh, the sparkling gold did her in! Ava danced to a song called "Lovely Night". She was at The Ball and danced while Cinderella and the Prince fell in love. Her costume was beautiful. Ava was so nervous last year that I honestly thought she would not go on stage. This year she was bouncing off the walls excited. Not nervous at all, just so happy to get to be a part of it all. So cute.

The big night came. I dropped each of the girls off with their classes and wished them luck.
They both did great. They knew their dances and mostly had so much fun.
We were very happy that Grandma and Papa came with us too.
Zachary stayed home with a babysitter for the night. I was cracking up when I went up to his room to check on him and this is what I found. Sacked out asleep in just his Green Lantern undies (which he keeps calling panties). He is taking this potty training thing very seriously.
It was a really good night. I am so happy for the girls that they love dance and had so much fun being up on stage performing.

A 90 Minute Presentation for Father's Day

For Father's Day weekend we took Scott to Park City for a 3 day, 2 night stay at the Canyons Westgate Resort. It was lovely. Simply lovely. What made it so great? It was a short drive, we didn't feel any need to go sight seeing so we just stayed at the resort and relaxed, we had a large one bedroom villa (the separate room is much better for us now), we had a kitchen so were able to bring all of our own food and eat in, the kids LOVED the pool and swimming, it was beautiful weather . . . . . and best of all . . . . . this whole extravaganza only cost us 50 bucks. That's right. We agreed to a 90 minute (which was actually 2 1/2 hours) presentation on owning a time share at the Westgate and we got a whole weekend vacation for our family. I'd say it was worth it. No, we did not buy a time share.

Vacationing junk food comes out upon arrival. Our kids were overly excited to actually get to have Cheetos AND Sprite. Oh, lucky day!
Our bedroom with a big jetted tub and a very cozy King size bed.
And yes Dad, yes I do have straight hair. I had it cut the day before.
While our room could have been very nice and relaxing for us . . . what was it really used for?
The shower was actually even better for me than the tub. It was awesome. I made a mental note to remember it if we ever are building our dream master bathroom. It had a steam button that filled the whole, huge shower with steam. We all loved it.

Baby Kate had her own spot to kick around and play and sleep. She did great.
Within 5 minutes of arrival, clothes were off and swim suits and goggles were on. They were ready. Luckily, the pool was right out our door and down the stairs. Easy access.
Before we took off to the pool, we just HAD to give Scott his father's day presents to kick off the weekend (and because it was getting hard to hide them).
Every year, as a surprise, the girls wrap up Scott's stuffed monkey from when he was a boy.
The kids gave him a new popcorn bowl (because I dropped and shattered ours a few weeks ago) that we made at Color Me Mine. It has all of their hand prints, names and ages on it. I'll tell you what . . . making that bowl was a true labor of love. Two hours of pure chaos as I tried to paint and then hand print a bowl with four kids - while also nursing Kate, bouncing a crying Kate, cleaning up Kate's puke on their floor, telling Zachy to stop touching all the shelves of breakable items, telling Brie to stop sucking on the sponge paint brushes, telling them all to sit down, telling them all to stop fighting and yelling, telling them all to get out of the paint, taking them to the bathroom, etc. Whew! We finished the (damn) bowl and it turned out cute.
Our other big surprises were a Pressure Cooker (that Scott has been begging for) and professional pictures of all the kids in their Red Sox shirts (so cute).

Finally . . . the pool. Over the next three days, this is where we spent almost every minute of our time. Swimming, lounging with Kate and swimming some more.

Zachy sneakily tipping back a Diet Coke.

On Saturday morning we left the pool for a short time to take the ski gondola up the mountain for a hike. The ride up was quite spectacular.
From the gondola we jumped on a chair lift up to our hike.
We moved along the hike VERY slowly because certain ones needed to stop and blow on every dandelion on the mountain and certain others needed to watch and follow every butterfly. There were a lot of both.
 Careful. Very careful.
The hike was not the best. It was pretty, but that mountain is set up for all the mountain bikers and their crazy mountain biking trails. We hiked back down to the lodge and enjoyed our packed lunch of peanut butter and honey sandwiches.
Then back down the mountain on the gondola and we were at the resort again . . . for more swimming.
This was my view from my lounge chair as I held sleeping Kate during a very long nap. Well, it was between this view and the back of my own eyelids. It was a heavenly afternoon.
 My snoozing partner.
As part of their efforts to tempt us to the Canyons, they also gifted us a meal at their nice restaurant. The kids liked relaxing by the fire. And they really were very relaxed . . . as in, exhausted from swimming for hours. Zach was close to passing out in this very chair staring at the fire. This made for quite an enjoyable dining experience. Very quiet.
My scallops and crab with asparagus, carrots and zucchini. Delish.
Scott's lobster chimichanga. Creamy and so good.
Everyone was asleep early that night and we had a really good night's sleep. Thank heaven. In the morning the girls sang their Father's Day songs from Primary to Scott. We all wished him a happy Father's Day, had oatmeal for breakfast and then packed up and headed off to church.
After church, we stopped at the Park Silly Market on Main St. to check out the "silliness".
It was a fun, fun weekend. I'm so glad we got the chance. We had a marvelous time and hopefully Scott had a wonderful Father's Day. We got to finish it all off with a delicious Father's Day dinner at Alan and Laura's house with Alan on his new grill and cousins playing wildly. Perfect.

At the end of it all, what are our kids talking about the most? Can't wait to get back up to the Canyons Resort to go to the daycare again! They got to go during the presentation and apparently it was just that fun.
