Kate - Two Months

We went to Kate's two month doctor appointment with Uncle Brian. She looks just perfect. She got three shots and was purple she was screaming so hard when the nurse gave them to her. She calmed down and fell asleep on the drive home, but when she woke up later she was screaming again. This has been the most that any of our kids has ever reacted to shots. She seemed to be in a lot of pain. A little bit of Tylenol did the trick to help her feel better and the next day she was all good.
Stats:
Weight: 9 lbs. 2 oz.
(Feeling so big and chunky to me, but still small to everyone else.)
Height: 21 inches.
She learned to smile and it is adorable. She gives a big open mouth smile to anything that comes in front of her. She watches the little butterflies on her swing move around like they are long, lost dear friends finally reunited. Love it.
She is an evening fusser. Kate is pleasant and quite easy during the day, but when 8 o'clock hits she is fussy and crying until about 10 or 11. She'll sleep for a few minutes at a time, but really doesn't calm down and go to sleep for the night until very late. Sooooooo, Scott and I spend those hours walking circles around the kitchen island bouncing the girl to help soothe her. Hopefully this doesn't last long.
She is the sweetest thing and we think she is just beautiful. I love, love, love this baby girl.

Easter

Easter was a good one. Quite simple and quiet. We said good bye to the Skinners as they drove off to California for their own Easter and we went directly to Brian and Rachel's house for a lovely "Good Friday Dinner" with the Buchanan Clan. It was beautiful. My favorite were the orange chocolate covered strawberries made to look like carrots. So cute. The kids favorite was the easter egg hunt Aunt Rachel did for them. We all had a nice time, as always.
Saturday evening Scott boiled us some eggs and got out all the supplies for dying. The kids loved it. I think they like it the older they get. They know how to draw and be creative. If only we had given then a few more cartons of eggs.
Check this kid out. The effects of a long, fun week with cousins for spring break! He's a wreck.
Scott had to work Sunday, so missed the kids waking up to their baskets and easter egg hunt. He chose to miss that so that he could be with us at church though and we were all glad. The kids woke up to find their baskets filled with candy and that the Easter Bunny had hidden all the eggs they colored around the backyard early in the morning. They were very excited, especially the little boy who lives only for candy. He kept yelling, "Mmmmmm, SUGAR!!!"
The hunt for their colored eggs.
Then it was time we got all dressed up in our Sunday best and went off to church with Scott. Trying my hardest to just get ONE picture of the three of them. I end up yelling, swearing and crying. Zachary kept stomping on the girls poor sandaled feet. They of course were screaming. Fun. At least this one cooperates quite nicely.
We were happy to have the Petersens come up for Easter dinner after church and naps. Tawna made the best fruit salad . . . sooooo good. Oh and they made two really good desserts. We need to have them more often.
Zachary and I made these special jello jigglers for the feast.
Wonderful day! I'm glad we have so many people we love to spend it with.

Red Sox Opening Day!

Happy Red Sox Opening Day!

Yes, of course we celebrated . . . just like every year. . . .with everyone decked out in their Red Sox gear and a family picture taken. We need votes on your favorite. Things went as they usually do when we take a picture - someone crying and not looking. What one do you like though?

We had some extra fun this year because everyone was in town to celebrate with us! Waaa Hoo! We played "Sweet Caroline" and "Dirty Water" and "Tessie". The first Red Sox game was shown on TV. We served "nasty nachos" and hot dogs off the grill. It was one good opening day party. Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun.

Spring Break 2012 - Cousins Gone Wild

The week after Kate's blessing was spring break. Laura and kids joined me and mine and Sarah and her kids for a crazy fun week. We did it all with 11 kids in tow. It was a GREAT time while it lasted, but ended with three exhausted moms.

We woke up Saturday morning to discover the Skinners had arrived in the night while we slept. We were all VERY excited to see them creeping up the stairs! We got to introduce Kate to more cousins and she flashed them some of her first smiles.

The excitement mounted when it then began to snow! The Skinners first time ever being snowed upon. My kids didn't quite get why Auntie Laura was squealing so much. .
This here picture won the grand prize for my favorite picture of the week! She is lovin' that snow . . . for about 2 minutes, then she was inside lovin' some hot chocolate with me.
Most of the week was spent with kids playing on the swing set and trampoline in the backyard. We did dare to take the group out and around quite a bit too though. One of our first stops was Temple Square, the new children's Book of Mormon exhibit and then City Creek for lunch.
Da Boyz!

There are no pictures of lunch at City Creek because, while awesome, it was way too crowded for for us and our 11 kids. I distinctly heard Laura say she was about to throw herself head first over the second story balcony. We should probably just not talk about it. Although I do have a delicious chocolate cake ball in my  fridge to show for it.

We spent an absolutely gorgeous day at the park the next day (not wanting to venture too far out in public). We came home from Sugarhouse Park a little sunburned, wind blown and with a number of bumps and bruises. It was time to relax in front of Nick Jr. for awhile. Then dinner and baths for everyone!
Early Friday morning Davin called his art students together to teach them how to draw. They spent some time sketching with pencil in Brie's room as Davin encouraged their artistic talent. So cute.
We headed up to Snowbird to show the Skinners the snow and the ski slopes.

Then on to meet up with the Allreds for a tour of the Sweets Candy Factory. This was a hit. The tour, the candy, but especially the hair nets. (Oh, but for Krista it was the cute tour guide.)

Someone really loaded up at the candy store. Bet that was a good ride home to Cali.
Our last day together was at BYU! I take any chance to take the kids to BYU to try to influence them for good. My best tactic right now is to let them have BYU ice cream. It's sooooooooooooo good! And does the U of U make anything delicious? Nope. Sorry. I also came home with a BYU football outfit for Zachy, which was NOT recieved well by his father.

Skinners took off on the snowy road to California from here and we went home to recover from a very fun week! We had a great time. We hope they come again soon.
