We are back from our 3 day trip to Holland with the Hughes family and it was definitely a fun time. We had planned to camp together on the North Sea and see all the tulips of Holland at the Tulip Festival. Our big plans did not happen as we had hoped. We looked at the weather
forecast and saw that it was going to be colder than we hoped and probably rain. So, the Hughes stuck with the plan to camp because they have a camper and Scott, Brie and I booked a hotel (for cheap) that is right on the North Sea. I was actually very happy for the beds and warm showers and even a delicious
European style breakfast overlooking the sea every morning.

This is us traveling in Germany on our way to Holland. My dad's motto has always been "55 stay alive". Scott's new motto is "180 stay alive". He had a great time driving the autobahn.

Our hotel.

We then set out to see the fields and fields of colorful tulips that we have heard of and dreamed of seeing. Luckily, we had perfect weather. But, sad to say, we were a few weeks too late to see any tulips. There was not a single one left. We saw endless fields of harvested tulip plants.

A tulip field. We kept looking out and saying "that would have been rows of tulips". It was too sad.

These are the only two lips we saw.
We went to the
Kukenhoef to see all the flowers there and most of their tulips were harvested also. We were disappointed at first, but had a really fun day there anyway. The kids had a great time.

I brought this cute tulip coat that Aunt Valerie gave
Brielle as a baby present when she was born just for the occasion of the tulip festival. I was so excited that it finally fit her. We did get to see a few tulips at least.

The Hughes family at an indoor garden FULL of incredible flowers. It was beautiful.

Alicia, Scott and
Brielle at the windmill. We got to climb to the top and look out at more empty tulip fields.

There was a petting zoo that all the kids went wild in. It was fun to watch them play/chase all the animals.

Brie came upon a little rabbit business and promptly broke it up. Good job Brie.

We also got to play on the zip line. Here are the boys and Brie flying through the air with the greatest of ease.

So much to say...
1.I think it's so sad that they cut ALLLLL the tulips down. Couldn't they at least leave a FEW for the latecomers?
2. were those Scott's two lips? I really can't tell. That's a very interesting close-up.
3. At least it didn't RAIN RAIN RAIN the entire time you were there, right? I mean, your picts look un-rainish.
4. Love the tulip coat. Sad we never got to see it in the UK, but I understand it might have put you over the Ryanair weight limit.
5. Did you REALLY put up a pict of "rabbit business?" That is HILARIOUS! And Brie?! Say "Wow!!!", Brie.
6. Klukensmofferhiemer looks like a cool place, despite the missing tulips. Glad you got to go there.
Come to our tulip festival next march/april! Really, it is about a half hour south of Portland at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Company.
