A Rainy Day in London
By our second day in London, we were all sick. We all had colds with sore throats and coughs and stuffy noses. So, Kamber and Samantha opted for a "sick" day and stayed home to rest. Smart. Scott, Brielle and I headed out for a day in London all on our own. It actually turned out to be a very fun day. Brielle was lucky enough to get to borrow Samantha's stroller with a rain cover, so she was nice and dry and warm inside her stroller as we walked the city all day. She just slept and snacked and enjoyed the ride.
We got out at our Tube stop and came upon an outdoor market. It was lunch hour so a lot of people were here for lunch. There were so many interesting options. We had a veggie wrap that was delicious.
We then walked along the river until we reached the Tower Bridge. We walked over the river along this bridge. It was a very cool view of the city.
The Tower of London. We didn't pay to visit, because we have both been, but here it is.
Here is Scott pushing Brie in his fancy new poncho. He had no jacket, so had to resort to this. It kept him quite dry all day.
On our walk through the city we came upon the Fidelity building. Doesn't Scott look ready for work at Fidelity International in London?
Our next stop was St. Paul's Cathedral (where Princess Diana was married). It was so cool to see. It is a massive building right in the middle of London. I think it is the most beautiful inside of any of the cathedrals I've visited. I thought it was incredible.
Now comes the fun part. We took the Tube to Harrod's Department Store. This is a favorite for tourists and Londoners. It is a HUGE department store with all of the most expensive and fancy name brands. I checked out the price on a little summer dress for Brie and it was 294 pounds. That is 588 in dollars! They also have an oyster bar and all kinds of fancy foods. It was so fun to see.
We spent all of our time in the Toy Kingdom. We finally let Brie out of the stroller and let her run wild through the toys. She was so THRILLED! She had the time of her life in that store. I think Harrod's might be her favorite part of this vacation. She ran from animal to animal and hugged them and kissed them. We had a good time watching how excited she was.

We finished our day at Piccadilly Circus. It is the Times Square of London. It was fun to walk through. We grabbed a slice of pizza while Brie slept and then headed back to Brian and Kamber's nice warm and dry house.

Scott- I love your new style. Kind of like a plastic mini cinched at the waist. I just realized that you all flew out the same day we did to Texas and you are STILL gone!!! Crazy. You are so lucky.
The pictures of places you visited brought back lots of memories of our visit with the five boys when Scott was two years old. It rained then also.
1. Loved Scott's oufit.
2. Did Scott stop in and interview at Fidelity?
3. Your picture of St. Pauls Cathedral reminded me of watching the procession and wedding of Charles and Diana. It was a world-wide event that was broadcast to millions. It was impressive and beautiful.
I thought of that wedding as each of my daughters was married - simple rather than elaborate, reverent rather than an media event, quiet rather than a booming wedding march, in a small room rather than a huge hall, etc.
The thought that has always come was, "Which would I rather have for my daughters?
All of you know that you made the right choice and you have been blessed for it and will be blessed eternally.
