Scottish Festival and Highland Games

We got to go to the annual Scottish Festival again and we were lucky enough to have Fred come along with us. It was a beautiful day at the games and we all had a great time (no lost children like last time).

We made our way to the Buchanan tent. The first time in the eight years I've been going to the festival that there has been a Buchanan tent. Much thanks to the Reid Buchanan family for setting it up. (If you notice me laughing in this picture it is because the Buchanan man next to me was right in the middle of telling me a story about what you find under a kilt. I just laughed and nodded.)
Brielle and Ava went to check out the Highland dancers and meet the Highland dance teacher I signed them up with.
At noon it was time for my favorite part of the games, the mass pipe band and the parade of clans. It's just so cool to see and hear all those pipers and drummers marching onto the field together. Pretty awesome.
Fred (and the rest of us) got VIP treatment as the first president of the Utah Scottish Association by our family going first in the Parade of the Clans and getting to ride in a cart. Ava and Brielle led out the parade, but ended up fighting and yelling all across the field about which way to go. I just heard everyone around me laughing.
Lunch was our usual, fish and chips and we LOVE the roasted corn.
Buchanan kiddos watching the games.
Scotty Dogs!
And we all went home with the sound of bagpipes ringing in our ears the rest of the day!
