Memorial Day Visits

We were able to spend a nice Memorial Day with Fred and Rama visiting a few graves of the Buchanan family. We first went to Emma's grave to take her some flowers. I really love Memorial Day. It is such a neat holiday. We drove into the cemetery and it was packed!! There were families everywhere remembering their loved ones. Some looked like they were there for the day with the whole family surrounding the grave of someone in their family who is already gone with picnic blankets, playing games, leaving flowers, cleaning up the headstone. Loved seeing it. These families really know that they are families forever.
We got to go out to lunch at Olive Garden with Fred and Rama before continuing on to the Salt Lake Cemetery. Kate was loving that gnocchi soup.
We made our way up to the Salt Lake Cemetery. What a cool cemetery to visit. We found Fred's parents grave site and miraculously enough the Barclay's were right across the street playing bagpipes at their father's grave. They came to see us and played a tune that Fred chose for his parents.
Ava Elizabeth, named after Elizabeth Bell Reid Buchanan.
Back at the house after our visits, Kate checked out grandma's peonies and showed off her first ever pony tail!
I got to sit and talk to Fred. I always enjoy these moments of sitting in their kitchen with Fred or Rama in that white rocker (that I love) just talking. So glad we got to spend the day with them and learn a little more about their parents.
