Too Busy for Baby

At my doctor's appointment on Friday, Dr. Thackeray asked me if I was ready for baby to come. I told him that no, we had three events this weekend that we needed to hold off for and then she could come . We were just too busy. She needed to wait for:
1. Me to host a Valentine's Day Party for Playgroup at our house
2. Our neice Clara's baptism and luncheon on Saturday
3. The Ward Soup Social on Saturday night that Scott was single handedly in charge of.

We did it. Baby Kate was kind enough to hold off her birth for our busy weekend. Good girl.

Playgroup Valentine's Day Party - All our friends from Playgroup came over Friday afternoon for some Valentine's celebrating. We played Valentine Twister and it seemed to be a hit.

Valentine's Bingo. Shhhhh . . . secretly, I cheated and rigged it to get a winner quicker because I was getting tired of calling out Bingo squares. It was fun while it lasted.

We did two crafts. The first was breaking and melting crayons to make Valentine's hearts. They turned out really cute and the kids loved doing it.

I thought this was adorable and super easy. We made "diamond rings" with Hershey kisses.
And then, of course, had to decorate heart shaped sugar cookies.
Zachary was loving this party as he shoved all the candy, frosting and cookies he could into his mouth.

We even got to have a couple dads join Playgroup. Scott is a regular now because he has Friday's off and the kids totally love him. He did some Valentine's Day wrestling with them.

Clara's Baptism - We made it to Clara's baptism. It was a beautiful service and then we got to join all the Buchanan family at Brian and Rachel's house for a delicious lunch, cousins playing and more hang out time together. It was wonderful to be there.

Soup Social - So, we don't have very many ward activities anymore. Scott wanted to have a ward activity that was fun, simple and just got people together to hang out and talk. He emailed the Bishop and told him he would like to do a Soup Social on Feb. 11. The Bishop and Ward Council were quite surprised, but of course, said yes and Scott took charge. He passed around sign up sheets for people to bring different soups and rolls. He announced it for a few weeks in church. He went over to the church an hour beforehand and set up tables, chairs, tablecloths and pitchers of water. I have to say, it turned out GREAT!! Lots of people came, everyone seemed excited to have an activity together, there were about 20 different soups to try (soooooooo good), everyone talked and had a fun time. Clean up was quick and we were all home by 8pm. Scott did an amazing job at bringing everyone together for a really good time. I was so proud of him.

We made it through until Saturday night! Wahoo! Scott and I looked at each other and said, "Ok, now we are ready for her to come any time!" She must have heard us because she didn't wait too much longer.

Well, that is why she came, you must have been exhausted! Great weekend! First, how many kids were at play group? It looks like you rounded up the whole neighborhood. Second, only a man could go over to the church one hour early to set up for a ward social! We discussed this the other day when discussing the talk from conference that referenced how much women do. Great job, Scott! What a wonderful idea! And, I am sure everyone had a great time despite not having a days worth of decorations.
