We had another whole week of Scott being home with us for Kate's birth. He suggested a wonderful idea of us taking each child out on a date during this week. This way we could spend some one on one time with each of our kids and it would get them out of the house doing fun things instead of going stir crazy at home with a new baby. We did it and it was great!! The kids adored having all the attention from us during our date. Also, it made us appreciate and love them even more when all the focus was on them and enjoying them. They were so cute and funny when I just listened and talked with them individually, instead of constantly trying to focus on and round up all of them at once. Good idea Scott!
Mommy Dates
Ava: Ava's mommy/daughter date was to Pella Nail Salon (the salon mommy goes to for pedicures) to have a manicure and then out for frozen yogurt (which is really a cup full of gummy candy). The woman was really cute with her. She did bright pink nail polish, coated with sparkles and painted flowers on the thumbs. Ava was so happy!
Zachary: Zach and mom went to the Aquarium to see the fish. Zachary yelled out to anyone that would listen that he went to see "FISH! JELLY FISH! PENGUINS! STING RAYS! WHALES!" (Nope, there were no whales.)
To be honest, Zachary's favorite part of this date was sitting on the bench eating fishy crackers and getting gummy fishy candy at the end. Hopefully one day he will focus on his date and not just the food, huh?
Brielle: (Dad, avert your eyes for the next part.) We let Brielle get her ears pierced! We had never discussed if or when she could do this, but then two of her best friends got theirs done and she started begging. Neither Scott nor I had any real stance on ear piercing, so we did it.
Waiting before:
The trouble that I didn't see coming (and should have) is that she knows she can put different earrings in in a few weeks. Brie looked through the earrings and was SO EXCITED choosing the longest, dangliest, featheriest, sparkliest, most colorful, most beaded earrings she could find! Um, no.
We then had Hot Dog On A Stick and Orange Julius for lunch and Brie got to ride the carousel. She was one very happy girl!Daddy Dates
Zachary: Zachy was begging to ride the Choo Choo Train. The morning of his date, he was dressed, had his back pack filled with snacks and was walking out the front door ready to go at 8am. He was very excited. They rode TRAX to DayBreak and back and Scott says Zachy loved the "fast train".
Brielle: Brie got to go see "Beauty And The Beast" in 3D with daddy. They got to wear the cool 3D glasses and even got popcorn and root beer (which never happens)! They had a really good time together and Brie loved the movie.
Ava: Ava heard all about Zach's adventure on the train (and saw all of his maps) and wanted to do the same for her date with daddy. They left in the morning to ride TRAX out to West Valley where they stopped off at the mall for Jamba Juice and a pretzel. Another fun date on the train.
While everyone else was out having a good time, this tiny lady (still in the 5 lb. range) stayed home and slept. Some of my favorite dates were cuddling and sleeping with her.

What a wonderful idea and so much one-on-one fun for each child. My they are all looking so much more grown up. Where do the years go!
What the?!?! Ears pierced! You just opened up a whole can of worms at our house. We told Kea she could when she went into YW's, but she has been begging for a while now.
Other than that, the dates look awesome. Honestly, I don't think I would be up for taking my kids out on dates, one week out. Good for you! You must be feeling great.
What a wonderful idea! Those dates look like lots of fun. We may have to try something like this at our house.
I was thinking along Laura's lines too, you jumped back super fast. That is great.
Next year a skull tatoo for Zach! WHOOHOO!
